My rhododendron has several spots on its leaves and the branches are slowly dying off. What can I do? |
(Survey: General maintenance of rhododendrons ) |
| If your rhododendron has several spots on its leaves and if the branches are slowly dying off, this often means that your rhododendron is dying off completely. This is mostly due to a soil which contains too much water or to a dense foliage of surrounding trees.
Branches dying off
The leaves are suddenly all dried up. This is usually caused by Phytophtora or a soil which contains too much water. Trim back the affected branches till you reach the healthy parts or spray Aliette on your rhododendron.
Spots appear on leaves
The leaves show irregular dark brown spots. Remove the affected leaves and check whether the site where you have planted your rhododendron is adequate: not too sunny and no too wet. | |
